James McCullen: Candidate for secretary

I want to rethink how meeting minutes are shared by drafting a brief report for each Student Council meeting and posting it on the appropriate daily faculty/student bulletin; I will also encourage each grade level to use their grade-specific bulletin for any announcements.

I am able to recognize the critical role that Student Council plays in addressing issues in our community since I have already devoted myself to advocating for our students’ social, inclusivity, and learning rights at our school. I believe that as someone who was new to Lab during high school, I will be able to contribute new perspectives and overcome obstacles to fully utilize the organization’s immense potential.

Student Council must play a larger role in collaborating with the school administration to help them better understand and solve the systemic issues that our community faces. I aim to assist Student Council in expanding our position into new areas of student life by engaging with sports programs and other extracurriculars. As all-school secretary, I would also encourage the Executive Board to poll students on policies we hope to introduce to the school’s administration.
