Ameya Deo: Candidate for treasurer
I believe that transparency between Student Council and the student body is critical, so the first change I want to implement is for Student Council to put out monthly updates on what they are currently doing as well as plans they have. Another change I’d like to implement is the creation of open student forums hosted by the Student Council to best address concerns that the student body has.
For the past two years, I’ve been a part of the Finance Club where I’ve become apt in learning how to manage and deal with money in general. I became the portfolio manager of the club last year as well, where my role entails managing and budgeting our finances. I plan to directly draw on these skills to best manage and budget Student Council’s money.
In my opinion, the most important factor in serving as a liaison is to ensure that nobody’s problems are overlooked. By implementing the open forums, Student Council can better understand the concerns of the student body. I’d then like to meet and work alongside the administration both inside and outside Student Council meetings to bring these issues to their attention and pass bills to address these concerns.
