Kriti Sarav: Candidate for treasurer
Only a handful of clubs use the $8,000 available in club funding. I want to incentivize clubs to use the funds available to them by working with Cultural Union representatives. Also, I will improve and expand the Club Treasurer Training Workshop to explain the budgeting process to club leaders in more detail. Additionally, I want to start a program that focuses on educating the Lab community about socio-economic differences through the peer-leader/advisory curriculum.
In March 2020, I started my podcast, WhyFI Matter$, to help my peers and I become financially savvy. Having produced over 80 episodes, I am confident in my financial literacy skills and ability to communicate with people from all walks of life. Moreover, as treasurer of ASA and CEHD, I put these skills to the test: I’ve successfully organized the budgeting of various events as I am financially responsible, and have strong math skills!
I want to be an ally for student clubs and the administration. By helping clubs understand the funding available to them, I believe we can empower clubs. This can cultivate a greater sense of community with more U-High events and festivities to look forward to. In addition, I will make it a priority to be transparent about our financial status with the Lab administration, Student Council and club leaders.
