Committee sells sweatshirts to fundraise for prom
February 17, 2021
Despite the pandemic creating uncertainty around in person gatherings, the prom committee is continuing to raise funds for this spring’s event.
The committee will sell maroon sweatshirts with “UH” in large white letters across the center to represent U-High. Students and faculty may purchase them through Feb. 21 by submitting a Google form. The sweatshirts cost $45, regardless of size.
Senior Meghan Hammond, committee co-chair, hopes funds from these sales will allow for an exciting event this spring, despite pandemic restrictions.
“We are trying to plan for every contingency possible for this year’s prom,” she said. “It may not be exactly as we had envisioned it when we first started the initial planning in March 2020, but we still want it to be the best experience possible for the Class of 2021.”
Meghan also mentioned that the event will likely be different than usual, but committee members still do not know what exact restrictions will be in place.
“We know that the chances of an indoor event are unlikely, but we are trying to plan an event that will celebrate our class in a special way,” she said.
By fundraising now, the committee will have time to prepare for the event while also being able to plan for as many students as possible.
Similar to the funds raised for the Class of 2020 prom, funds will be used once social distancing requirements allow for an event.
“We want to have as many students as possible participate and keep their costs down, and by fundraising now we will know exactly what funds we have to work with for the event,” Meghan said.
