Linda Patterson, a community service officer at the Laboratory Schools since 2017, died Oct. 6. She was 64.
A commemoration of her life that had been scheduled for Oct. 13 was canceled but has not been rescheduled.
An online fundraiser established for her family said she had a five-year battle with multiple myeloma, a blood cancer. The fund will assist with medical and funeral expenses.
In an email to the Lab community, Director Tori Jueds reflected on Ms. Patterson’s devotion to students and security through her many acts of kindness to those she interacted with daily.
Community service officer Bobbi Bailey said Ms. Patterson will be remembered for her hard work and dedication.
“Linda was here day in and day out. She always met you with a smile — or a smirk. It’s hard because I knew her in a different way than you guys knew her,” Ms. Bailey said. “For me, she was more than a coworker, she was truly family. Her presence will be sorely missed. She was in some aspects the light of the team. She was always down for a good laugh or a good joke.”
