What sort of ideas, projects or initiatives do you have for next year? What is your main goal?
“I have a few ideas. One of the things I really want to accomplish is to keep progressing fundraising among students. It just resonates with me because I started my own nonprofit, and so I know fundraising is really hard, and building a brand and creating attention around your cause around the school can often be very hard. But another thing that I want to do is create more transparency between the student body and Student Council because there’s a lot of times where I feel like I don’t know what’s going on with Student Council. I want to allocate more funds to the Cultural Union. It’s not about what I want, but it’s about what the student body wants as a whole.”
What experiences and skills make you qualified for this position?
“I want to build experience in the field of finance and so I started a nonprofit called La Ropa, which gives underfunded communities clothing and monetary donations. I’m also building a community in Lab through my page called Social Perspectives, where I interview students at Lab about social issues such as objectification, insecurity surrounding ethnicity and beauty standards and share those experiences on my platform.”
How do you plan on being the middleman at the intersection of high school students, faculty and administration?
“A lot of it comes from having relatability in Student Council, and I want to build a community based on that in Lab. I like to talk to as many people as possible. When it comes to being a middleman between a group of adults and students, I have strong communication skills, and that helps. I can listen to adults while also trying to accomplish what the students want as well.”
