What sort of ideas, projects or initiatives do you have for next year? What is your main goal?
“I wanted to focus on trying to increase our free time as seniors and initially focus on minimizing senior assemblies by putting a cap on how many you can do throughout the year. Obviously, there’s exceptions, but I do want to limit the ones where it only involves the seniors. In Lab periods, there are rooms completely unoccupied and I want to reserve them for seniors as areas to relax or just study at work or whatever you want to do. There was a bill a few years ago that could get you a Nintendo Switch from Learning and Counseling and you could rent it out for a period or two. I think that’d be cool to offer.”
What experiences and skills make you qualified for this position?
“In terms of student government, I do not have the most experience, but I feel like I have a lot of friends who have been on Student Council and they have told me a lot about it. And I’m willing to learn the ins and outs and everything next year. I do a lot of track and cross country, so one of the things I’ve learned is the importance of persistence and resilience. I certainly just want to make things better next year.”
How do you plan on being the middleman at the intersection of high school students, faculty and administration?
“I want to reach out via a Google form or some sort of other survey device to reach out to students and see what the feedback and critiques of student government are. We’re representing students, and we also can go to faculty if you have any problems or see any sort of difficulties with our class specifically. And I’ll be trying to work through surveys and individually catering to handle specific problems. I also want to make graduation special.”
