The U-High robotics team placed third out of 30 in the Boiler Bot Battle in West Lafayette, Indiana, which was hosted by Purdue University.
The Boiler Bot Battle gave the Robotics team an opportunity to bring along some new members of the club to a tournament.
“This allows a lot of new people to go to a competition-like event and see us actually compete, and help us compete,” senior Mihir Epel, a coordinator for the team, said, “and besides that, it also allows our drivers, who can also be some of those new people, to get some experience driving the robot.”
The team used its finished robot from last year to compete in this tournament, so many team members were familiar with the robot. The new members got a chance to see a glimpse of last year’s robotics team.
Before competition season starts, the team is working on building the first parts of their robot and helping with a part in the fall play, “Rossum’s Universal Robots.”
