Two student-faculty committees on clubs and cellphones have been formed and will begin meeting within the next two weeks.
In a Dec. 17 Schoology post, Dean of Students Ana Campos invited students to apply to either committee.
The cellphone committee will focus on reevaluating U-High’s current cellphone policy in light of increasing awareness about the effect of phones on students’ mental well-being. According to Ms. Campos, the committee will review policies at other schools and new research to determine the best path for U-High.
The club committee will examine how U-High’s clubs are formed and managed. Ms. Campos said this was coming in response to the increasing number of clubs.
Each committee will have seven student representatives: three Student Council members and four other members of the student body.
Ms. Campos emphasized the importance of both student and faculty participation in these committees.
“It allows us to put forth ideas or proposals that, in my opinion, are better and more sound because they have taken into account the perspectives of all the people impacted by the question at hand,” she said.
The committees will begin to meet within the next two weeks and will continue to meet weekly during a rotating lab period.
