Emphasizing student involvement, U-High actors will perform light-hearted, comedic plays during Student Experimental Theater, opening Thursday Feb. 28.

According to actor and director Dania Baig, the shows will feature more student-written scripts than in previous years.

“It’s refreshing to see,” Dania said. “I think a lot of our audience members will not only be people supporting the cast, but also, people supporting the screenwriters and playwrights that have given us this great material.”

Additionally, Dania said this push for involvement will extend to the actors. While directing, Dania gave them the freedom to make the stories their own.

“My actors have the right and power to bring their own selves to the show,” Dania said.

Tickets are currently being sold for $10 in the High School lobby, and performances will take place between Feb. 28 and March. 2, all at 7:30 p.m.

While the production will not follow a linear, cohesive story, Dania says audiences will enjoy how the seemingly disparate plays work together.

“They have very different styles of writing, very different themes and messages, but I think it fits together quite well,” Dania said.
