Tu Ne Peux Pas Me Voir

Written by senior Alex Stevanovich and directed by junior Caroline Taylor, “Te Ne Peux Pas Me Voir” tells the story of Ross, a boy who attempts to woo girls by pretending to be a magical creature that only beautiful, special people can see.

Senior Jacob Beiser, who played Ross, said that the comedic nature of the scene allowed him to sink into his character.

“Playing that character was very fun because it was a very comedic role, and Caroline, the director, gave me a lot of creative liberties on how I portrayed him with line delivery and gestures,” he said. “Normally, I get super nervous to go onstage, but for some reason I don’t for this role.”

For senior Anna Schloerb, who played Maddy, Ross’s romantic target in this scene, character development stemmed from imagining the character beyond the scene.

“I had lots of fun like delving into my character and really making a back story for her, like really minor details about the type of dog she had, what her bed room looks like, what kind of apps she likes, pet peeves she has,” she said. “Also, I got to come up with like a job for her and what she was doing before and after, so I had this whole story behind the stage and behind the scene. The scene was just a little snippet in her life that the audience happened to stumble across.”
