Clare O’Connor, Téa Tamburo and William Tan have been appointed as editors-in-chief for the 2022-23 U-High Midway.

Other editors for the next year include Audrey Park, managing editor; Erich Raumann, deputy managing editor; Louis Auxenfans, news editor; Sahana Unni, features editor; Amon Gray, sports and leisure editor; Kia Dutta, opinion editor; Audrey Matei, arts editor; Peter Cox, city life editor; and Amy Ren and Ethan Swinger as assistant editors.

Téa, who served as deputy managing editor this year, said she was definitely looking forward to the coming year.

“I’ve been on staff for three years, and I’m really excited for this experience and getting to communicate with the school on a greater level,” Téa said.

After one year of the Midway returning to both print and online editions, the new editors-in-chief are eager to continue to improve and expand their role in the Lab community.

“One of my main goals is to keep open lines of transparency between members of the staff and the rest of the Lab community,” Téa said.

William echoed these goals.

“If we are able to establish a system of gathering and reporting news that reflects the community as a whole and showcases the voices at Lab that need to be heard,”’ William said, “I think that will sustain and improve our reputation as a reflective newspaper.”

Clare said being part of the Midway staff has been a highlight of high school, so she looks forward to improving it in the next year.

“The Midway is for everyone at U-High,” Clare said, “so it is essential that students with all kinds of different perspectives and interests interact with the Midway and feel properly represented.”
