The math team placed second at the Illinois Council of Teachers of Mathematics regional competition hosted at Niles West High School Feb. 25.

They also placed 7th out of 52 schools in the final North Suburban Math League competition of the year on March 2. At NSML the ninth grade team placed 9th, sophomores 11th, juniors 6th and seniors 5th in their respective divisions.

Co-captain Adam Tang said that the competitions are less about actually getting results and more about having fun and being supportive for all participating teams.

“The team’s really close. We all talk to each other, even if we’re in different grades. It’s like a bonding time and it’s fun,” he said. “Schools are supportive of each other instead of competing, so I feel like all the competitions just have a good environment.”
