Audio: UChicago security contractors serve as bandage to solution in community
The frequent, green-lighted patrol cars found in and around campus are intended to make the community feel safer, but some don’t feel that they have the intended effect.

The University of Chicago has recently deployed patrol cars. The cars’ green lights are hard to miss, and many students living in Hyde Park and in other places have noticed their presence. Some of them feel safer knowing they are patrolling a place with tendencies of crime. For others, cars do not provide comfort or security.
