In the recent Netflix series adaptation, ‘The Night Agent,’ action and tension build in an epic conclusion that appeals to any drama-lovers.

A new FBI agent, Peter Sutherland, is sitting on a crowded train when he sees a mysterious package beside him. A glance into the bag reveals a bomb is inside, with only minutes until it detonates. He quickly evacuates the passengers before it explodes, saving everyone on board. Although having saved a train full of people from a gruesome demise, Agent Sutherland is demoted after being mistakenly named a suspect in the bombing.

His new job is far less exciting. He is now in charge of the Night Action desk, a hotline which agents call when things go dead wrong in the field. Agent Sutherland sits at his desk all night waiting for the phone that never rings — until one night when it does.

On the other end of the hotline is the former cybersecurity CEO, Rose Larkin, calling on behalf of her aunt and uncle, who were spies and were killed after being targeted.

In March, Netflix released “The Night Agent,” based on the spy novel of the same name by Matthew Quirk, a thrilling show with all the tense and action-filled moments that make a great spy drama.

The show starts off slow, making you question the importance of the first few episodes. But, when the plot picks up, things really start to get good. The story covers the mysteries of who Rose’s family was and the corruption inside the White House that led to their murders.

Yet, it also tells the compelling survival story of Agent Sutherland trying to keep everyone alive.

With hair-raising action scenes that make you nervous and excited at the same time, “The Night Agent” has all the best aspects of any spy thriller. Its plot is sure to keep you on the edge of your seat and itching to start the next episode, and its satisfying ending leaves no questions unanswered.
