The Science Olympiad teams excelled at the recent Crystal Lake Central Invitationals on Jan. 27, with their varsity team placing first and the junior varsity team placing fifth overall.
Senior captain Anvi Padhi is proud of the team’s results at the second invitational of the season and is happy with the progress she has seen.
“We’re all pretty excited about the results from Saturday. We’re so proud of everything the team has accomplished so far,” she said. “People have put in a lot of work, and it’s awesome to see everyone in the room after school each day, and to see the growth.”
The team also won the Spirit Award, which is given to the team that best exemplifies team spirit during the competition.
Anvi thinks this demonstrates the members’ dedication to the Science Olympiad.
“A lot of the time, Lab students are going in supporting each other watching various build events being tested,” she said. “I’m excited. I think we have an amazing team. Everyone’s super dedicated. And yeah, we couldn’t ask for a better team.”
She has hope and optimism for the remaining season.
We have a very strong foundation, and we owe a lot to what past teams have done that we have been able to use as a foundation, Anvi said.
“We’ve been great so far,” she said. “I’m optimistic for what’s coming.”
She also expressed confidence about the team’s upcoming challenges.
“We have one of our toughest competitions of the season coming up in February,” she said. “But we don’t doubt that our team is up for the challenge.”
