Sophomore Jimmy Yu studies for one of his two math classes, Discrete Mathematics and Statistics and Accelerated Pre-Calculus/Calculus A. Many U-High students are doubling up and testing out of math classes to reach more advanced courses. SWEATY SERENITY. Besides benefits like increased sweat production, flexibility, and the detoxifying effects, hot yoga brings many other gains including stronger bone density, better skin, and ease of depression.

SLEEP SABOTAGE. Exposure to blue light and media before bedtime can disrupt sleep by interfering with the body's circadian rhythm and reducing the natural buildup of sleep pressure. This makes it harder to fall and stay asleep, leading to increased fatigue during the day.

BREAK THE FAST. For students short on time but wanting a nutritious start for the day, dietician Devanee Washington suggests consuming healthy fats and carbs, which can be found in options like overnight oats with fruit, a quick smoothie of greens and Greek yogurt, or a toast with avocado.

On March 16, a large crowd watches the Chicago Plumbers Union dye the Chicago river green to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day, an annual tradition since 1962.

St. Patrick’s Day, the famous annual holiday on March 17, attracted enormous crowds, creating the lively and bustling streets of Chicago during the last weekend of spring break. From watching the Chicago Plumbers Union dye the Chicago river emerald green to attending the multiple parades around the city, there were plenty of ways for students to celebrate the holiday.

Model UN team hosts first conference at Lab since before pandemic
Standing with two of his company’s robot products, sophomore Isaac Sutherland delivers lines as the lead role of R.U.R. CEO Harry Domin. “I think my favorite part was when you get to the point in rehearsal where you’re working off of the other actors, and you get to this collaborative flow state that is kind of incredible,” Isaac said. “Everyone is working together and building a story together, and I find that so much fun.”
