Middle school teacher appointed 2023-24 interim middle school principal
May 3, 2023
Middle school English teacher Joseph Drogos will serve as the interim middle school principal for the 2023-24 school year, stepping into the role vacated by Ryan Allen.
Mr. Drogos, who has worked at Lab for 12 years, said he is looking forward to working with and supporting students and faculty from a new position.
He said, “’I’m really excited I think just to have the opportunity to get a different perspective on the school. For me personally to be in a role where I can act as advocate and support for teachers, so that they can flourish in whatever way they find best to work with students and families.”
Mr. Drogos said he was encouraged by the support he received from students, families, teachers and administrators.
“I think like there’s this sort of story about the school, and maybe it’s more prevalent in the high school, that there’s a lot of anxiety between faculty and administration, or families and faculty that crops up, and I’ve just been universally supported and encouraged by people,” Mr. Drogos said, “and that’s really heartening.”
A search for a permanent principal will begin in the fall.

Mr Drogos!! I hope he stays principal permanently–he is truly amazing! I never took his course, but his creative writing activity period was one of the places where my love of creative writing started! I don’t know if you remember me, but Mr. Drogos, i am so grateful to have had that space!
