The volleyball team has raised more than $2,500 through online donations and T-shirt sales for the annual Dig Pink fundraiser.

The funds benefit the Side-Out Foundation, a nonprofit that funds research for patients with metastatic breast cancer. Dig Pink is a charity volleyball event hosted all across the country in high schools and colleges.

Varsity coach Lisa Miller expressed her appreciation for the Lab community.

“It is incredible to see what the Lab community can accomplish,” she said. “The generosity has just been so touching.”

Donations can still be made online through the Side-Out Foundation website

Ms. Miller, a middle school humanities teacher, said the event energized the team.

“There was this coherence that brought us together,” she said. “The event gave us all this common goal that allowed us to come together and attempt to accomplish it.”

Additionally, every year, the volleyball team welcomes a guest of honor. This year, it was captain Charlotte Henderson’s grandmother, Susie Henderson, a breast cancer survivor.

“It made me really emotional,” Charlotte said, “because the event incorporated one of my favorite people and my favorite thing to do.”
