Midway staff receive citywide recognition
March 31, 2023
More than a dozen current and former individual members of the U-High Midway staff received awards for their work from the Scholastic Press Association of Chicago, which were announced March 23.
The contest, which covered content from March 10, 2022, to Feb. 19, 2023, is open to Chicago high schools to submit their content into writing, photography, online and multimedia categories.
This year was the Midway’s first year entering, and editor-in-chief Téa Tamburo believes the results depict the amount of effort and work the staff has contributed.
“I think it speaks volumes to how dedicated everyone on staff is, and all the hard work we’ve put in,” Téa said.
The Midway was acknowledged for 15 awards, including one for overall newspaper, in which the Midway earned a superior.
“The Midway did very well,” Téa said. “I’m very proud of everyone on staff for how well we did.”
