Sophomore Meena Lee participated in the state finals of the IHSA Class 2A Three-Point Showdown contest in Normal on Feb. 27, but her seven baskets were not enough to advance past the preliminary round.

Meena tied for second place at the sectional competition Feb. 20, scoring 6 of 15 shots and qualifying for the state finals. Senior Mary Neal also participated at the sectional contest but did not advance.

Meena is one of only two U-High players to make it to state in the past 10 years, according to Athletics Director David Ribbens.

“I don’t really shoot in games, so I was surprised to be selected for the contest,” Meena said.

Meena competed in the competition last year, but it was “a lot easier this year.” She said only one other team showed up to the regional competition.
