Innovation is a key part of human history, and for all of time until now, art has been there to inspire and lead us to create new ideas; but now, generative artificial intelligence has taken over and is able to steal human creations in order to quickly form new art.
The creation of art is what makes humans human, and artificial intelligence can never replicate the centuries of innovation and creativity that has followed humans, so we shouldn’t let AI begin to try.
According to the University of Oxford’s Institute for Ethics in AI, AI is advancing, and as it continues to develop and piggyback off of human creations, it has the chance to surpass humans, and in turn cause creativity to become useless, taking away the jobs and passions of many.
Generative AI is based on human inputs and human work, wrongfully taking from people their words and pictures, and using these to make its own outputs that lack meaning and emotion.
“Artificial” is in the name of artificial intelligence, and it says itself that it cannot be creative like a person can. The artificiality of AI creations takes away the beauty that can only come from the work and human mistakes that go into a piece of art.
To continue creativity, generative AI needs to be limited in terms of art. But most importantly, people need to keep creating, no matter what it is — music, poetry, painting — it is all important and shows what makes humans special.
