Ninth grader Aya El Bissati works alongside biology teacher Daniel Calleri on a project in the Wood Shop workshop. Making birdhouses using instructions provided by the workshop leaders at the beginning of the period, participants learned the art of woodcarving through practice with power tools. “I think everyone had a good time working with their hands,” workshop leader and senior Lincoln Richardson said. “I also think many of the people enjoyed being trusted and given responsibility with the tools.”
