Dear readers,
This year, the Midway has strived for consistent and ethical reporting along with complete coverage to produce a paper that represents the student body accurately. The Midway focused on timely coverage this year, from announcing the departure of former Interim Director of Schools Sue Groesbeck to reporting on the decision not to raise the pride flag in Blaine Courtyard and chronicling broader community responses to the neutrality policy. Within the U-High and Hyde Park communities, we’ve prioritized wide-ranging and relevant topics, exemplified by our recent coverage of the Obama Center.
This year, our increased focus on social media and visual storytelling techniques illustrated the Midway’s commitment to continuously evolving. We are pleased to see how the Midway has developed and we look forward to continuing its growth for the 102nd edition.
After a busy year, the staff will take a break from publishing over the summer except in the event of breaking news.
We encourage U-High students to use credible and trustworthy sources to stay informed this summer, especially given our ever-shifting political context.
Sincerely,
Lila, Ari and Declan
