Krish Khanna: Candidate for All-School president

What sort of ideas, projects or initiatives do you have for next year? What is your main goal?

“All of my previous campaigns have come with tons of ideas, and that’s not changing this year. As a student athlete and a member of numerous academic teams, I’ll work my hardest to help allocate the budget for those ‘repping’ our school. All of these teams go out and they do their best, and they’re the reason why our school has a good reputation around the area. Also for those in affinity groups, along the lines of allocating the budget, I’ve heard that it’s difficult to request funding and there should be no barriers for affinity groups to hold events, so I really want to streamline that process. In my years on Student Council, I was able to work on a bill for sports-related homework extensions, and I almost got it through before I was sadly elected out of office, but I’ll hope to build on that. I’ll strive to improve everyone’s life by adding infrastructure in hallways and lounges and always listening to your inputs.”

What experiences and skills make you qualified for this position?

“I was the Student Council president of my ninth grade class and I was also the Student Council president of my 10th grade class. In that time, I got a lot done…I was the first person to implement any sort of Student Council feedback form, which actually increased transparency, and I will hope to build on that in the future. I passed bills left, right and center; I fought for streamlined homework extensions for student athletes, but that’ll be expanded this year. If I get elected, I’ll be organizing an interview series of recent Lab alumni to shed light on the college application process. I tried a couple other initiatives as well. Some of them were shot down as my term was over, but I’ll never stop fighting for the student body.”

How do you plan on being the middleman at the intersection of high school students, faculty and administration?

“Being a part of numerous sports and academic teams, and just generally being connected to the students at Lab, I have the ability to act as a go-between between the faculty and the students. I also have plenty of experience interacting with the faculty, given my prior experience as a representative of the students. Outside of that, I can allocate the time to make a difference here so all in all, you know, I can develop connections between students and the faculty.”
