Lisa Tao was elected all-school president for the 2024-25 school year.

After a two weeks of campaigning followed by a final day of voting, students in grades 9-11 elected a new student government for the 2024-25 school year, with seniors Lisa Tao as all-school president and Joshua Carter as all-school vice president.

“I have a few ideas,” Lisa said. “One of them would be to create a way for people to be able to access information about university and AP courses, to have that information be more accessible. Another one is to facilitate more open discussion between the faculty and the students.”

Lisa is also looking forward to promoting more of the all-school events.

“I also hope to increase attendance for all-school events, such as dances, Labstock and the newly founded International Day,” Lisa said. “So, yeah, I’m super excited.”

Other all-school elections resulted in Emma Heo, secretary; Isaac Begle, treasurer; Ben O’Donnell, Cultural Union president and Sinéad Nagubadi, Cultural Union vice president.

“I’m really looking forward to increasing transparency between students and also advocating for them to actually go out and get club funds,” Isaac said. “We’re going to have a lot more student-run events, and this is going to result in a lot of school spirit. So, I’m really excited.”

Along with Isaac, Ben also has many plans and ideas for Cultural Union in the next school year.

“I’m looking forward to increasing the reach of Labstock,” Ben said. “I want to add movies or maybe food trucks to that event, and that would kind of be my first initiative as the CU president.”

The Class of 2025 officers include Keira Harter, president; Eli Raikhel, vice president; Edward Park and Maya Pytel, Cultural Union representatives.

“I’m just excited to be more involved with the community at Lab, and I’m hopeful that I can plan some fun events that people can remember for a while after graduation,” Keira said. “I would really just love to engage more in the community and help work on bills to leave a lasting impact after I leave Lab.”

The Class of 2026 officers include Sophie Li, president; Daniel Chang, vice president; Grace LaBelle and Daniel Wu, Cultural Union representatives.

The Class of 2027 officers include Aiden Yu, president; Saanika Dutta, vice president; Suna Choi-Hortasçu and Austen Wu, Cultural Union representatives.

The total turnout was 84% voting for this election cycle: 86% of 11th graders, 82% of 10th graders and 84% of ninth graders.
