After months of arbitration, Daniel Bobo-Jones will be reinstated as a teacher at U-High.

The arbitrator shared the decision Dec. 20 that the Laboratory Schools did not have just cause to terminate Mr. Bobo-Jones and that he will return to U-High effective in January.

Mr. Bobo-Jones’ employment as a high school science teacher was terminated on Jan. 8. The Faculty Association filed a grievance stating the termination did not follow the collective bargaining agreement. When that grievance was denied, the FA took the appeal to binding arbitration in the summer.

“It felt like complete relief, knowing that I’m coming back to a place where I know I belong,” Mr. Bobo-Jones said in an interview with the Midway Dec. 20, a few hours after learning of the decision. “Teachers, parents, former students — they’ve all been blowing up my phone.”

Jim Catlett, Faculty Association president, wrote in an email to the Midway that faculty are looking forward to Mr. Bobo-Jones’s return.

This is a developing story and will be updated as details become available.
