As of this year, two new secretaries are working in the dean of students’ office to assist students and help with extracurricular activities.

Robyn Roland is the attendance secretary, and Devita Smith is the dean’s secretary. They work in room C023 with Dean of Students Ana Campos to manage student activities and student supplies as well as IDs, and maintain student activity schedules.

Previously, Ms. Smith worked in Alumni Relations and Development, and Ms. Roland was a community service officer at Lab.

Ms. Roland said she mainly works with attendance coordinating student absences and events such as field trips. Ms. Smith mentioned she deals with billing invoices and activities such as retreats, club reservations and planning.

During the 2020-21 school year, Ms. Smith was reassigned as a room monitor. She wanted to become a secretary because she said she wanted to work with the students more.

“I really enjoyed interacting with the kids,” she said.

Ms. Roland said she was looking for a change in position but wanted to stay at Lab.

Both secretaries said they enjoy their new positions.

Ms. Campos said that If students ever need help with pre-arranged absence forms, clubs or signatures, they can always stop by the dean’s office.
