The Ouroboros Review, Lab’s literary and creative translation journal, will host a release party for its fifth annual volume, with a theme of “Change and Renewal.”

The Ouroboros Review, Lab’s literary and creative translation journal, will host a release party for its fifth annual volume, with a theme of “Change and Renewal.” Students will be able to present their Ouroboros submissions in front of friends, family and other attendees from 4-5 p.m. May 30.

In prior years, the Ouroboros Review’s party took place at school, but this year it will be at the Seminary Co-op Bookstore at 5751 S. Woodlawn Ave.

Maja Teref, The Ouroboros Review clubs faculty advisor, said the move will allow more people, outside of Labs community, to access the release party and the new volume more easily.

“We are thrilled about the change in location for the new volume, as the Seminary Co-op provides a space more accessible to the general public,” junior Daisy Juarez, Ouroboros Review club president, said.

The fifth volume will be dedicated to the German language program, which is being phased out from Lab due to the recently announced budget cuts.

“When we heard the saddening news about the changes in the German program, we knew we had to dedicate this year’s volume to the program and its wonderful teachers,” Daisy said.

Earlier this year, Daisy said she would like to expand the submission of the Ouroboros to more of the Lab community, such as allowing submission from middle school students and others. This fifth volume does just that by including work from students in middle school, lower school and Lab faculty.

Daisy said, “In previous volumes, we usually received high school submissions, but this year we feel that Volume 5 represents the whole Lab community more accurately.”

With the theme “Change and Renewal,” attendees can expect to see how Lab members chose to creatively represent this theme in their translations and submissions.

To buy a copy of the new volume email Ms.Teref or Daisy, or come to the  Seminary Co-op bookstore on May 30. Copies will be available for $10.
