On May 4, the fitness center reopened for student use, with masks required at all times and other safety restrictions in place.

To use the fitness center during the school week, students must fill out a Google form prior to Sunday to indicate their preferred time slot.

The available time slots are 3:30-4:20 p.m. and 4:30-5:20 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The 10-minute period after each time slot is dedicated to cleaning the equipment in the fitness center.

Distance learners can use the fitness center, but their parents must fill out the daily symptom screener form prior to noon on the day they are working out.

Twenty-six students are allowed in the fitness center at once, and each student who signs up for the fitness center must receive confirmation on their time slot from assistant strength coach Robbie Hitzelberg.

“We all suffer from stress and anxiety, especially during a pandemic,” Mr. Hitzelberg said. “I think [the fitness center] is a great outlet for all the students that have been a little bit crammed up lately.”
