Donations of soft plastics, including snack bags, plastic wrappers and any flexible plastics will be accepted to support Wildlife Conservation Club’s Bottle Brick Drive, which will take place from March 28 to April 8. The club hopes to make bottle bricks by taking the soft plastics and compressing them within plastic bottles.

Club president Jessica Slear said, “I think it’s just like a really great way to recycle our materials at Lab because soft plastic can’t actually be recycled in Chicago.”

Jessica and club member Carolyn Gao said they hope that when people see donation bins next to the trash bins in the cafeteria and high school lounge spaces, they will choose to help divert their soft plastic waste from landfills by adding to the bins.
