Many sophomores volunteer with the Hyde Park Refugee Project, which helps newly arrived refugees acclimate to the United States and neighborhood.

Settling in Hyde Park poses many challenges for refugees, and in a church in Hyde Park, among other places, they utilize tutoring, ESL programs and other forms of aid. Much of this aid comes from U-High volunteers, whose service work helped them gain better attitudes and perspectives.
