The girls golf team’s season ended with sophomores Amelia Tan and Maxine Hurst competing in the IHSA 1A State Championship tournament at Red Tail Run Golf Club on Oct. 8-9, where Amelia placed 19th and Maxine placed 35th out of 111 golfers.

“I was a top-five sophomore,” Amelia said. “It was really validating to see my hard work pay off this season. It has motivated me to continue setting higher expectations for myself and to keep pushing myself to play better.”

Amelia shot an 81 and 75 ending with a total of 156. Maxine shot 81 and 83, making her total 164.

Amelia said the team’s season was very successful even though all of the team didn’t go to state.

“This is the closest we’ve ever been to making it to state because we did advance to sectionals this year,” Amelia said.

Amelia’s goal for this year was meeting the ninth graders and doing better than last year by going to state. Along with pushing herself harder, she wants to do even better next year.
