Construction halted at the Obama Presidential Center after crew members discovered a noose at the site located about three blocks from the Laboratory Schools in Jackson Park on Nov. 10.

Later that morning, the incident was reported to the police by Lakeside Alliance, a partnership consisting of five Black-owned construction firms that has worked on the presidential center since September 2021.

Moving forward, Lakeside Alliance will provide anti-bias training to its crewmembers and is offering a $100,000 reward to find the individual responsible for the hateful act, emphasizing its zero-tolerance policy.
