David Ren,  junior, won the IHSA Sectional Diving Championship on Feb. 18 at the University of Illinois at Chicago, scoring 315.20 for an 11-dive sequence, qualifying him to participate in the state meet in Westmont on Feb. 24, where he scored a 120.50 and did not advance past the preliminary round.

David was coached by Dar Novak who was named IHSA Sectional Diving Coach of the Year. 

At the sectional meet, U-High’s diving team placed fourth out of nine other teams and they got a top six finish in seven of the 11 events.

About the state meet, David said, “I think I did very well because I actually qualified last but I ended up doing better than one other person, so I feel like it’s an accomplishment by itself.”
