The varsity baseball team ended its season in a 8-9 loss to Leo High School on May 20 at Chicago Christian Baseball field in Tinley Park for the 2A IHSA Regional Final.

A few days prior, on May 17, the Maroons won 26-0 in a knockout game against South Shore High School.

Junior Mason List, who dislocated his finger during the Leo High School game and was able to return to play shortly after, said the close match took a toll on the players, who had been training for this game all season long.

“There were a lot of guys on the team that actually said that this was the most nervous they had ever felt in a baseball game,” Mason said. “It was a very silent ride home.”

In anticipation of next year, some of the players have already started thinking about summer training.

“I know a lot of the guys have been preparing for their summer teams,” Mason said. “Those that aren’t playing in the summer have been in the gym getting ready for next year.”
