The boys golf team ended the season at the state tournament Oct. 9-10, while the girls team ended at Class 2A Sectionals on Oct. 7.
At state, boys captain Daniel Chang tied for 42nd out of 112 golfers. Daniel qualified for state based on his performance at sectionals on Oct. 6, where he shot a 74 (+2) alongside juniors Andrew Burckardt and Caillum Haffner.
Seniors Devyn Moubayed and Vedika Dangi participated in girls sectionals on Oct. 7 and shot 81 (+9) and 94 (+22), respectively.
Both boys and girls varsity teams competed at regionals on Oct. 1, where the boys team tied for fourth place, barely missing the opportunity to, for the first time ever, move onto sectionals as a team. The girls team placed fifth.
Daniel says he has seen much growth throughout the team this season with younger players, like ninth grader Simon Ellis who competed for varsity at regionals. In addition, he saw growth from the seniors who joined golf for the first time this year and spent the season learning to play competitively.
Although both teams weren’t able to make it quite as far into the post season as they hoped, the effort put in throughout the season was apparent.
“We just fell a little bit short, which was a little disappointing. But still, overall, I’m very proud of the team,” Daniel said.
