Sharon Flamon, an assistant coach for the girls tennis team, died recently. Ms. Flamon was 71.
An email to the community on Nov. 20 from Juliana Zavala, director of athletics, announced Ms. Flamon’s death.
Visitation will be Dec. 5 at A.A. Rayner and Sons Funeral Home from 1-7 p.m., and the funeral will be Dec. 6 at St. Moses the Black Parish from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
In her email to the community, Ms. Zavala, wrote about Coach Flamon’s dedication and kindness, as well as her impact on students, colleagues and the Lab community.
“Coach Flamon was more than just a coach — she was a mentor, a leader, and a cherished member of our school community since joining Lab in 2019,” Ms. Zavala wrote.
Junior Laila Valenti, a member of the girls tennis team, was impacted by Coach Flamon’s guidance and care.
“Coach Sharon always created a welcoming and supportive environment on the team,” Laila said. “She always had a smile on her face and made sure the team was having a fun and productive practice.”
