Both campuses of the Laboratory Schools will be closed Friday, Jan. 23, due to extreme cold temperatures. The National Weather Service has forecast conditions to be around 1° F with a wind chill of about -30° F. Friday was already a nonclass day for U-High to mark the end of the semester.
The Maroon Madness basketball games and dance performance have been rescheduled for Feb. 10. Practices and games scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 24, will continue as planned.
Campuses are expected to reopen for classes on Jan. 26.

Dear Lab Employees, Families, and U-High Students,
As many of you may be aware, the National Weather Service is forecasting temperatures in our area to be around 1°F on Friday with a wind chill “real feel” near −30°F. After careful consideration, Lab’s leadership team has decided that the Laboratory Schools will be closed tomorrow, Friday, January 23. As a reminder, to mark the close of the fall semester, tomorrow was a previously scheduled day off for U-High School students.
Please note:
Both campuses will be closed; there will be no student/family access to any of the school buildings on Friday.
Maroon Madness has been rescheduled for Tuesday, February 10.
The Admissions Playgroup session previously scheduled for Saturday will still take place at Earl Shapiro Hall.
Home and away athletic competitions—including practice and Lower School Clinics—will proceed as planned on Saturday.
Thank you for your patience and partnership. Be safe and stay warm. We look forward to seeing you on Monday.
Sincerely yours,
The Laboratory Schools
