Associate Director of Schools Carol Rubin is leaving the Laboratory Schools on May 1 for a position at a major Chicago company, according to an email sent to faculty on April 24. Brian Hewlett, director of innovation and technology, will serve as interim associate director.

“I want to thank her for her work at Lab over the last year with finance and operations where we have better systems now in place to track financial transactions and promote greater transparency and efficiency,” Director Charlie Abelmann wrote in an email to the Midway.

Ms. Rubin, a parent of two Lab graduates, will have served in her position for 13 months, during which she oversaw Lab’s financial and non-classroom operations.

“I am confident that Brian Hewlett can support a smooth transition as interim,” Dr. Abelmann said.
