New N-2 principal to start in April

Kelly Grimmett will be the new N-2 principal at the Laboratory Schools.

Kelly Grimmett has been appointed as the new N-2 principal, effective April 12, according to an email sent Feb. 1 to the community.
Ms. Grimmett is currently the associate head of the Lower School at Friends Seminary in New York City. Ms. Grimmett’s experience working at an independent school with a labor union will help with her new position at Lab, Interim Director David Magill said in an interview.

According to Mr. Magill, some of the greatest challenges facing Ms. Grimmett will be the pandemic and creating a sense of unity across the school. Through the end of the school year, Ms. Grimmett will be working closely with Carla Ellis, the interim N-2 principal, and Sarah Abella, the N-2 assistant principal.
Receiving her master’s degree in library and information science from Rutgers University, Ms. Grimmett spent several years as director of libraries and information services at both public and independent schools.
Mr. Magill said, “She is just one of the finest candidates I’ve ever had the chance to appoint.”
