The Math Team hosted the fourth competition for the North Suburban Math League (NSML) at Lab on Feb. 1, and the team placed third at the event.  Schools from across Chicago participated in the contest.

The weekly lunch club prepared for the event by solving previous contest problems and working diligently with the math department to ensure a successful event.

Five contestants from each grade level competed in the event in addition to several alternate contestants. Sophie Li and Mulan Wu competed in the orals competition. The team is on track to place for overall NSML, of which there are five conferences a year.

Team co-captain Sonakshi Mutreja was pleased by the team’s performance and hopes to keep up the momentum into the rest of the season.

She said, “We always aim to improve, but are hoping to keep up the good work at the final NSML in March so we can bring home another trophy.”
