Aeros Racing, U-High’s STEM Racing team, placed 23 out of 85 teams competing at the STEM Racing World Finals 2025 in Sentosa, Singapore, from Sept. 27 to Oct. 2. STEM Racing is the organization formerly known as F1 in Schools.
Even though he’s proud of the team’s success at the global level, senior Aran Malhotra, Aeros Racing’s lead engineer, expected greater results.
“Relatively, I think we did pretty well,” he said. “However, we had higher expectations for ourselves for sure.”
This difference between expectations and results was partly because the team’s car did not perform as it had in prior trials.
“The car was a little bit slower than what we expected for the majority of our races,” Aran said. “It reached the performance we wanted it to toward the latter half of our races, but we don’t exactly know why there was a disparity in performance.”
While team members wait to receive feedback on the elements of their final design, Aran and the other seniors are focused on preparing new members.
“A couple of us are seniors, so we’re going to be gone by next time,” Aran said. “At the moment we’re just trying to shift all that information to newer members so that they have the potential to do even better than how we did it at globals.”
