Eight students on the U-High Midway journalism team have received new roles.
Four students have been selected as multimedia editors: Cecily Bensmaia, Karina Hans, Ellie Rosenberg and Chloé Tyndall. Four will be assistant section editors: Sinziana Lazar, Maya Gauhar, Gabriel Wang and Nadia Washington.
The roles were chosen based not just on skill, but on factors like personality that will benefit the paper the most, Kabir Joshi, an editor-in-chief, said.
“We chose based on what we thought would be strongest for the paper at the current moment,” Kabir said.
Kabir added that both roles are viewed equally in terms of status but have different responsibilities and will switch for each member in the middle of the year.
One of the new multimedia editors, sophomore Chloé Tyndall, enjoys making visual art in her free time. Now, as a multimedia editor, she will be able to explore her creativity more outside of things like visual art.
“I really like writing, and being able to continue writing in a more creative way has really helped me and it’s really fun,” Chloé said.
