The Laboratory Schools recently updated the Visitor and Entrance Policy on its website to include information on how it plans to address federal law enforcement on the university’s campus. This change was put in place to align with the university’s policy toward federal agents.
The page, titled “The Laboratory Schools and Federal Law Enforcement,” outlines the protocol for federal law enforcement agents if they wish to enter the building. Federal law enforcement must present valid warrants if they want access to university facilities, including Lab.
Director of Safety and Security Michael McGehee emphasized that Lab is a private building and chooses who to let in.
“My goal is always to create support in environment where students and faculty and the whole community feel secure when they’re inside our campus,” Mr. McGehee said. “I also think it’s important for everyone to know that these buildings, and the land that they sit in, are private buildings and that they are not public.”
