Applications for a paid position as a Summer Lab counselor are open until Feb. 12. U-High Students turning 16 by June 8 are eligible to apply.
Summer Lab is a program held by Lab every summer with opportunities for kids from Nursery 3 up to eighth grade to participate in a variety of recreational and summer activities.
Part of the application process involves an interview, in which the organizers are looking for applicants who are open to working with and being a role model for kids, according to Tom Burke, director of family life programs.
“I think it’s a great opportunity for younger folks to sort of dip their toe in the water of the workforce, because it’s not a suit-and-tie job,” Mr. Burke said. “We’re hiring people that want to make it the best experience for the campus.”
Junior Maddie Baker, a counselor from last year, got the chance to work with kids from lower and middle schools.
“It was fun, just getting to experience the different grades, and these kids, all their different stages of life,” Maddie said.
