An individual attending in-person school tested positive for COVID-19, according to an email sent to families, faculty and staff. The identity of the individual was not released to maintain their privacy.

Laboratory Schools officials are coordinating efforts with the University of Chicago’s Contact Tracing Team and the Chicago Department of Public Health to identify people who came into close contact with the individual who tested positive, the email stated.

According to the email, “Lab will send separate communications to those individuals who are identified by the University’s Contact Tracing Team as having close contact with the confirmed positive individual(s).” This is in accordance with Lab’s COVID-19 protocol.

People who are notified will be asked to quarantine for two weeks and get tested for COVID-19 within five to nine days after coming in contact with the COVID-19 positive individual.
