The hiring process for a new administrative position, which was put on hold in September, has begun again. The new position, dean of student success, will work with existing administrators to strengthen support of students.

Though the job description has not been released, administrators confirmed at a faculty meeting that the candidate search for this fourth administrator will begin soon. The role will work closely with Dean of Students Ana Campos to monitor student data, such as progress and attendance. The chosen candidate will also work with ninth graders and students new to the Laboratory Schools for orientation. The new administrator will also work with Ms. Campos to find out why students feel the need to use artificial intelligence dishonestly and how to stop it.

Principal Martin Woods said the administration has taken the months on hold to assess where the greatest need is for this new position to better help the community.

“It’s connected to the needs that we’ve identified after going through half of this school year with that job on our radar,” he said. “We have identified an opportunity where we can be more effective in supporting students.”
