What new ideas, projects or initiatives do you have?
“I will work to remove some of our co-curricular weeks based on timing of major tests and streamline the programming of the remaining ones for the sake of allowing students more free time. Also, I will work to allow our students to return to Booth for lunches and free periods. Furthermore, currently each student is allowed to have three tests on one day, I will work to decrease that amount to two.”
What is your main goal and how do you plan realistically to achieve it?
“My main goal is to change the norm for the Student Council as a whole. I would like to make the Student Council an approachable group for ANY student that has something to say. Also, I would like to diversify the event portfolio for next year. In the past, many candidates have stated that they will take ideas from the student body on possible new events, but then immediately shot down their ideas. Overall, I would like to disrupt the pattern our Student Council goes through every year, which results in the same outcomes.”
What experiences, skills and other qualifications make you a good candidate for this position?
“I have served on Student Council before, and I am currently employed, so I know how successful groups and organizations need to run in order to get things done. Also, I am very approachable. No one from any incoming age group would hesitate to talk to me if they had something to say.”
What is a change in the school this year that you disagreed with or would like to see remedied?
“I would like for our students to be allowed in Booth during lunches, free periods, etc.”
How will you communicate the concerns of students to the administration?
“As a sophomore, I am uniquely positioned to absorb requests from all ages without the need of a messenger. In the past, the all-school president has relied on grade-level presidents to let them know of any issues or concerns from students, often leading to miscommunications or for the request to simply be ignored and forgotten. I will be able to communicate everyone’s concerns directly to the administration efficiently and address them in Student Council meetings as soon as possible.”
