What new ideas, projects or initiatives do you have?
“First, I would make an effort to increase engagement in student events like theater productions, sports games, art showcases, concerts and more through a universal event calendar. Through this calendar, I would coordinate with athletic teams, art directors and others in an effort to promote and raise awareness for their activities, because often people don’t know how many fun things are going on around the Lab. Secondly, junior year can be overwhelming, so I would coordinate more mental health food events, accessible chats, leisure events and rest times for students.”
What is your main goal and how do you plan realistically to achieve it?
“One of my main goals is to build a stronger, closer Lab community, and strengthen school spirit in the grade. I would love to help students engage with their community through fundraising events, exciting and engaging grade and school-wide events like pep rallies, and promoting student games and events like sports, concerts, etc. Additionally, I envision small, fun ‘mini club shoppings’ where individual club leaders can share their events to the broader Lab community on a smaller and more regular scale. I can’t wait to work with club leaders, directors, and other student-group leaders to achieve this.”
What experiences, skills and other qualifications make you a good candidate for this position?
“Through my past 13 years here at Lab, I have gained a passion for the Lab community, and can’t wait to make an impact on a broader scale. I have built a strong foundation in leadership, time management, and efficient communication through my experiences as a dual-sport varsity athlete and club leader. Having attended the vast majority of student events this past year, as well as having organized several cultural events within my own cultural community, I believe I have developed the background necessary to make our school events more inclusive, engaging, and fun for everyone.”
What is a change in the school this year that you disagreed with or would like to see remedied?
“I would like to reverse the policies on student activities at Booth. Booth offers a valuable place for students to study, connect and chat, and enjoy high-quality food in their free time, while also being exposed to a more professional setting than the school can offer. To do this, I would work with administrators to workshop guidelines and rules that allow both the student community here at Lab and the Booth population to work together, and keep this productive space open to Lab students.”
How will you communicate the concerns of students to the administration?
“I will be an accessible, outspoken, and efficient communicator for the student body with administrators. Prior to talking to administrators, I will do my best to fully understand our student bodies concerns, and wishes, so that I can best communicate the needs of the students to administration. I will be a concise, organized, and reliable communicator for the student body, and help be a mediator between administration and the student body, and honestly and truthfully voice the concerns of our community.”
